Since Nate Erskine-Smith abandoned his hopes to run for Ontario Liberal leader after his nomination run was sabotaged by party insiders (with an assist from the party establishment earlier this year), I’ve been quietly waiting for someone new to emerge who gives me some hope and enthusiasm to continue to participate provincially.
So I’m super happy to hear today that Vikram Handa, a housing executive and human rights lawyer, has joined the race after months of preparing his leadership bid.
His platform so far sounds wonderfully specific and progressive, addressing the cost of living crisis and other major issues facing every region of the province, with real details rather than platitudes.
Of the six candidates now in the race, I am definitely giving Handa my first preference later this year and happy to do so. I’ll even do some volunteering over the coming months for him as well.
